Let's talk about writing well for your auto-responder follow-up series today. If you haven't signed up yet for AWeber or a similar service... what are you waiting for? It's literally a dollar to try for a month, and I promise you that you'll be making a lot of money with this handy tool by the time you finish that first month.
However, I can't promise you real money with Aweber unless I teach you how to write a really helpful auto-responder follow-up series. These follow-ups are what you use as a type of sales funnel for your new subscribers. Since every new subscriber will get these series of automatic responses, this is a great opportunity to test exactly what you need to say in order to turn these new prospects into buyers.
In order to succeed, you will need to make each follow-up email along these guidelines.
1. Worth Reading
Is your email really something that you'd like to see in your inbox? Is it valuable information that would help most people who are initial subscribers? Even if it isn't of direct value, do you provide enough information about the reasoning behind the email to make it worth reading anyway?
2. Headline Hints at Value for Everyone
Does your headline feel irresistibly click-able while also revealing the main point within your email? A great headline will tell the reader exactly what your email is about while also making them feel compelled to click and read it all the way through. An example would be "Three ways to end inappropriate dog barking." That tells the reader that you have three ways to solve the problem of dog barking. A better headline, which applies to a wider audience, would be "Why these three methods stop inappropriate dog barking." See the difference? That second headline makes it interesting for EVERYONE and you'll want your autoresponder emails to possess similar headlines.
3. Call to Action
Your emails should contain calls to action, whether that be clicking a link, purchasing a product, or emailing you back. Make sure that each email feels engaging and not just informative. Start by reminding your reader who you are by mentioning your blog, then write the rest of your email and end with a call to action. Make the call to action extremely simple and no more than one click away.
If you follow these three guidelines then you should have several well constructed autoresponder emails. Should you need ideas for what to write, try looking through your archives and picking out posts that could be fleshed out a little further for your email audience.
Depending on when you think the time is right, you can add a follow-up email or emails within your Aweber auto-responder sequence that ask your audience to try the product which you did an interview with the creator of. This is your opportunity to get every single new subscriber to read about your interview and buy the product in question. That's the beauty of Aweber (The Secret Tool You Must Try Once), it provides you with an email sales funnel that would be impossible to achieve without automation.
